Cropped Canvas Jacket

About the item: This is a cropped, double-breasted canvas jacket. Jacket has short sleeves with a pleating detail that gives them a very slight "puff" shape, and a decorative buttoned strap that wraps around the back of each sleeve. Two pockets are functional. Jacket is unlined.

Why I'm giving this up: I received this in a swap with a favorite Canadian clothes-swapper and unfortunately, it's just a little too tight through the bust. I have worn it once or twice in a year, but it's not getting much wear because of this. I'd rather make room for things I'll wear more.

Brand: I'm having trouble deciphering the font on this tag. It's either 22 Aes Brand or 22 Des Brand - I think the former.

Size: Small, but definitely more of an XS, particularly through the shoulders/bust.

Fabrication: There's no tag! I really do think it's a simple 100% cotton canvas.

Paid: This came in a swap, so I bartered clothes.

Handmade Eyelet Blouse

About this item: I designed and made this piece last summer from cotton eyelet, quilting cotton, and a bit of nylon mesh. This sleeveless top has a slight A-line shape and is rather loose. It pulls over the top and ties at the back with homemade bias binding cut from a red quilting cotton with a tiny floral print in white. The body is a single layer of eyelet and slightly sheer; the yoke is a double layer. Bias binding was hand-sewn to the garment (if you enlarge the first image, you can see the inside of the garment at the back of the neck, and view the stitches), and the yoke was embroidered with a simple running stitch as well. Bias binding was also used to accent the base of the yoke.

Why I'm putting it up: Unfortunately, I haven't reached that level of confidence where I am comfortable wearing my own clothes, despite their meticulous construction. I wore this one once, just after I made it, and it's been on a hanger in the closet since then.

Sizing: I drafted this for myself on my dress form. I am 5'11", 34-26-36. Feel free to ask for other measurements if you like.

Silk/Rayon Velvet Jacket from Anthropologie (Elevenses)

Item: Silk/rayon velvet jacket from Anthropologie (Elevenses brand) in a deep teal with a silvery cast in the light. Elasticized waistband with three button-loop closures. Gathered lapels and bubble-hem detail on sleeves. Fully lined.

Condition: Perfect. New with tags.

Why I'm letting it go: I snapped this up on a clearance rack at Anthropologie really hoping I could make this beautiful jacket work for evening over a cocktail jacket. Unfortunately, the size 0 is just a touch too small for me and looks ridiculous on my 5'11" frame. It's been on a hanger for over a year, and in that time I've tried three or four times to find anything I could pair it with. I'm facing facts: it doesn't work.

Society for Rational Dress Tunic, Size XS (Fits 4-8 US)

About the Item: Society for Rational Dress tunic purchased from Anica Boutique in San Francisco this past January (2009). Color is charcoal gray, and is darker than the pictures. Micromodal and silk blend is lightweight and perfect for fall and spring wear. Burnished brass closures down the front. Draped collar with two pockets on tunic front. Can be worn over a cami or long-sleeved top and looks great paired with jeans or slacks or leggings. Short-sleeves. Hand-washable. This item is not meant to be fitted; it's oversized, yet never looks frumpy. It's a very interesting piece, as is everything from SFRD.

Why I am Selling It: Too much in the closet, and need to make room for fall purchasing! It's in perfect condition, as I wore it once as a light jacket over a long-sleeved shirt. No imperfections, stains, snags, etc.

Material: 90% micromodal; 10% silk; hand wash. Charcoal gray.

Sizing: It says XS on the label, but Anica Boutique told me that it's really a one size fits all for sizes 4 to 8 US.

Current Elliott Shirt Dress, Black Chambray, size 2 (US 6-8)

About the item: i purchased this from bird nyc last winter (Dec. 2008). black chambray shirt dress inspired by a 1950s casual dress. relatively fitted around the shoulders and bust, with an A-line flare to the hem. traditional rounded collar with burnished brass buttons down the front.
cap sleeves and two pockets on the sides of dress. This looks great by itself or with leggings or skinny jeans. The fabric is lovely, and it's good for fall and spring wearing.

Why I am Giving it up: Cleaning out the closet to buy fall clothing!

Sizing: This is a size 2, which translates to a 6-8 US. The shoulders will accommodate up to 16-1/4" wide; although the shoulder seam is 14", the cap sleeves add to the shoulder width. I am 16" across, and this fit perfectly. Bust is 39" and length is 34-1/2" from collar to hem.

Item Description: Rag & Bone navy and ivory striped 100% cotton top. The cotton is Supima, and is soft as cashmere with a tissue-lightness that is perfect for spring and summer. Purchased from Metier, San Francisco in April, and it's been in the closet ever since.

Sizing and material: Size 2, but I am a size 6 and it fit perfectly, hanging loose while looking polished. This would probably fit a size 2 up to a 6 or even a small 8. The supima cotton is very, very soft and lightweight. This is not like a t-shirt at all, but more like a light cotton sweater. Slightly sheer, so you'll need to wear a cami underneath.

Why I am parting with it: I am making room for future purchases for fall. It's a gorgeous sweater but that pesky ivory doesn't look good with my skin color!

Condition: New without any imperfections whatsoever. Perfect!

Length from neck to hem - 23";
