LoGE is moving to Instagram (thegeneraleconomy)

1. Fast fashion posts will be deleted immediately at the discretion of the editors (Erica and Carissa (cupcakewalker)
Examples include pieces from H&M, Forever 21, Gap, Old Navy, Express, American Apparel (this is not an exhaustive list).

2. Pricing guidelines: Don't ask for more than you paid. If it's a current season item, I usually offer at least a 30% discount. Any posts that seem profit-motivated will be deleted. If it's obviously worn or more than 1 year old, I offer at least 50-60% discount of the paid price (not the original price).

3. I will only list 3 items per seller at a time

4. If you don't leave your contact info in the comments, you will not be eligible.

5. Only serious buyers, please! The buyer has 1 business day to pay or make arrangements.

6. If you have participated in LoGE in the past and would like to help me post items, please email me to make arrangements using a shared gmail account.

General Economy moving to Instagram??

I would like to suggest moving LoGE to Instagram. I find it is much easier to use than a blog, and I think there is room for us. There are many great clothing resale accounts on Instagram, but it is important to me that LoGE remains a FREE volunteer supported site.

Please leave a comment or email me directly at spinningjennie47 at gmail if you have specific suggestions or comments (positive and negative are both welcome).

Moving forward, I would like to create an Instagram account (thegeneraleconomy) that a small group of volunteers can access for posting submitted listings. Each volunteer can sign up to post a limited number of listings per day, perhaps even only 2-3 times a week so as to keep time-commitments to a minimum.

I prefer the blog format =) mostly because it's aggregated to my RSS feeds and I prefer my Instagram to not be clogged with non-friends and fun stuff. But whatever works best for you guys!

Agree with Annette - I like to choose to come here to shop rather than have it come to me - also with Insta's new (non-linear) algorithm think it will be confusing to do time-based auctions...

i agree with Annette and Tamu Tamu, more and more i prefer to avoid instagram due to advertisements and the overwhelming amount of photos on there, not to mention the algorithm.

I agree as well, I love the pacing a blog allows - doesn't feel like a social media emergency to see posts!

Erica,
I have really appreciated this site over the years and would be disappointed to see it move over to instagram. I realize that I'm in the minority here, but I choose not to have a "smartphone" or participate in online social media like instagram. I think that LOGE as is, in the blog format, allows for a more egalitarian platform.

It seems unfortunate that those who look at their phones the most often, and respond the quickest would be the ones to snag the best deal. Just a perspective from an admitted technology curmudgeon.

Best,
e
