Banana Republic Classic Toggle Coat w/ Horn Buttons

(image above: the area that has slight wear to the southwest of the toggle - there is 2 on the outside of the coat. This is the larger of the two.)

Hi all,

This is a classic toggle coat from Banana Republic. It's so archetypal, there's not much to describe to it. Like most toggle coats, it has horn buttons and leather toggles. There is a buttoned strap at the wrists and a removable "collar."

It's in pretty good condition, there are a couple of places in the coat fabric -- two outside and one inside) where it looks like the fabric has worn down a little (each about 5 to 6 mm in diameter). You have to look pretty hard to find them, and I don't think it'll detract from the potentially many years you have left in this coat.

Since it's been hanging in my closet in Chicago and now in DC, and hasn't been worn in a couple of seasons, you should dry-clean it. That's my biggest suggestion for the coat.

If you're looking for a classic toggle coat, and don't want to spend huge sums, this is a good one to play with -- it's also nice and petite, in a way that isn't as commonly found in a coat as you would think...

Why am I getting rid of it? My partner just got a toggle coat. Since he doesn't have a thousand coats, I'm just going to let him be the toggle coat-wearer in this relationship.

-pockets are lined
-sleeves are lined
-body is unlined
-hood

Sz XS

Measurements:

Bust 34"
Length 30"

I remember paying $249 at Banana Republic -- I just wanted a solid toggle coat. It seems that they have introduced a less inexpensive version in the past year.

Asking: $60 + $10 shipping.

Listing end: Jan 23, 2010

Hi. I'm confused by your description of the fabric being worn out, can you take pictures of it?

Hi -

These are places where you can see beyond the "tufting" of this kind of fabric to the weave underneath (it's the classic toggle coat tufted, woven fabric with a herringbone pattern to it.)

it's not very noticeable. I had to give the coat a good look over in order to find it. I'll have to take a photo in natural light tomorrow for you to see it...until then, tas

If this is still available - I'd love it! My paypal email is santapasricha@hotmail.com (but my name is Janet - the email is my husbands). Thanks! Janet.
PS - My first thought was that I would love to see a couple both wearing toggle coats!! (super cute in that corny way!)

Hi all, in the interest of total transparency, I have posted a photo of the worn-out spot. It looks as a slightly lighter spot next to a toggle. As you can see, it is small compared to the toggle and you have to look hard to find it!

As for the sleeves, they are 23.5". I am 5'4", and I didn't have to have the sleeves altered.

Hope that helps!
