SOLD! Vintage Escada cardigan
THANKS SPEEDBUMP!
I apologize for the poor quality of these images-- I'm going to the Post Office tomorrow for some other General Economists and so I didn't want to wait for the natural light of the morning.
How to explain my love for vintage Escada? Let me count the ways...
First, incredible quality-- 100% Pure New Wool and made in West Germany by Margaretha Ley.
Second, the glam 80s vibe-- this "sorority" style cardigan has military style gold buttons and well as a glitzy embellished "E" on the "crest" above the pocket. It's navy blue, with red and blue trim on the hem and sleeves. Pictures are horrendous, unfortunately. If nobody claims this by the morning, I will post more pics.
Third, the styling-- Look, we might try to do the slouchy knits nowadays, but Escada did them with impeccable craft way, way before that. This cardigan is a Size 34, which I believe was the smallest size they came in (approx. sz 4, but would fit bigger or smaller sizes because of the cut), but it never gives bulk to the figure, just languid, elongated elegance. It is 27 inches long, so it would hit the mid thigh area.
Goodness me, I am almost talking myself into keeping it. I basically stalked Ebay looking for vintage Escada that didn't look too old-lady (yes, there's that side to the label too; it ain't pretty), and eventually hit on this. LOVED it. But then, goddamn me, I never wore it.
It is in perfect/pristine condition-- I doubt the person who sold it to me wore it either.
I paid $60, inc. shipping. Considering the sum these things usually fetch, I consider that a bargain.
You can have it for even more of a bargain: $30, plus $6 for US shipping.
First come, first served!
