(SOLD) Japanese parka with giant hood: the best parka ever. sz XS or S

Hi all,

To me, this is the perfect parka. I searched and searched -- generally, all parkas tend to overwhelm my smaller frame -- and I finally found it in...Japan. Anyhow, it was so perfect, I bought two: one in this washed grey canvas and one in black.

Since I recently promised myself I would get rid of all clothing in which I had a identical "back-up," (neurosis, blah, blah) I'm going to let this go.

Right now I'm typing this and fighting the usual uncertainty: I wore this parka a lot. Probably because it's hard to find such a big hood to protect one from Lake Michigan winds, or a parka with the perfect pleat in the back that shapes it just so...and puff sleeves, epaulets ! So masculin and feminin.

The label is "Osmosis." Because of peculiar trade habits of the Japanese, they've developed quite a large domestic cottage industry and many of their own labels -- all incredibly well made -- that aren't imported westward, to the US.

It's one size only! And it happens to fit me perfectly. Meaning that it can fit a size XS with room to spare for a very thick sweater underneath, or a Small, with a sweater, too.

Measurements: I wear a 14" shoulder dress shirt. Because of the puff sleeves, it's hard to get a precise measurement, but it is approximately 17" in the shoulders.
Bust: 19"
Sleeve length: 24" to 27" (sleeve cuffs can be rolled up.)

Details: mini zipped pocket at chest, on one arm, banded cuffs and waist, funnel neck, epaulets, two covered pockets at hips, zips up, covered placket that closes with buttons. Giant hood lined with artificial fur. Fully lined. Coat is in a cotton canvas with a great patina to it.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm pointing out the imperfections. This is *not* a new coat. The primary imperfection is that on the left wrist cuff, a hole was worn into the knit band. I sewed this up, but you may want to redo it if you don't like my "handiwork". The other imperfection is that on the front of the coat there are a dozen-ish orange dots, the size of pin points. I didn't even see them until I looked over the coat to write this listing. I just had the coat dry-cleaned, and I am wondering if it happened there... There is also a small area next to the button that latches the left pocket that looks slightly discolored. Again, I didn't see it until I looked just now so you'd have to look pretty hard to find it.

But please, please don't put down your name if any of these imperfections bother you. There are not rips, stains or tears other than what I have disclosed, and the fact that it's such a special parka will hopefully mitigate the minor imperfections.

Below: the area of discoloration, dead center in the picture. You can also, if you look very hard, see the orange spot of whence I speak.

Above: area where I patched a worn out spot.

Paid: $370 in Tokyo
Asking: $90 + $10 shipping, $18 to Canada. I am asking this amount because, well, parkas are expensive. And you can't get this anywhere. And in my opinion, this is one of the cutest, most well-made parkas, even with the minor imperfections, period.

Listing end: Jan 26, leave email in comments!
