virginia johnson tunic-S

congrats, kristien!

i bought this last summer but have never worn it out because it's a little too voluminous for me. i think it might work on someone who's a little taller. plus, i don't think this shade of green works with my skin tone. it's a pity, i really love virginia johnson's prints, and this top is so light and airy, it'll be perfect for summer.

measurements:
shoulders--17"
empire waist--17"
length--31"

details:
light cotton voile, slip-on tunic with pockets and long sleeves. runs slightly big, would fit a 6 or small 8.

imperfections:
none, never worn outside.

price:
i paid $78, marked down from $195. asking $16 including shipping in the US.

T by Alexander Wang Mini Pocket Tee Dress, Medium (Fits 4-6)

The Story: I purchased this by special order from La Garconne in late March of this year. Now that it's warm enough to wear it, I see that I have lots of other white tees in the closet -- so I thought I would give this one up for the greater good.

Imperfections: None -- still has the tag attached.

Size: Medium (perfect for a size 4 -6)
Color: White

Material: 100% Ultra-Fine Micro Modal -- very soft material. Lightweight and Semi-sheer; Made in US. Handwash

Sizing: this shirt is meant to be slouchy. so a medium will work perfectly on a 4 to 6. It's sized on the small size of medium.

Measurements: Bust - 17" flat; Length: 32-1/2" flat
Retailed for: $85.00

Asking: $40.00 (includes shipping in the US -- Canada is $42.00 including shipping)

talla black linen skirt, M

Congrats, Stephanie!

i bought this ages ago on the talla design website even though it was a size too big for me. now it's time to give it up because i've only worn it a handful of times.

measurements:
low waist--16"
hips--22 1/2"
length--28"

details:
black linen and viscose skirt with hidden side zipper and metallic embroidery. it's hard to capture the details, but the circles are a mix between gold and silver, and the half circles are bright white with a sheen to them. the skirt is quite long, falling to mid-calf on me (5'4"). very pretty, but not suitable for bicycling or life with 2 cats.

imperfections:
none

price:
i don't remember what i paid, probably around $80. asking $10 for shipping in the US

listing end date:
may 26, 2009.

martin + osa blue top, NWT M

Congrats, Sophie!

i bought this top last summer and planned on returning it because it was a little tight in the shoulders. even though martin+osa has an open return policy, i waited so long that i was too embarrassed to return it.

measurements:
shoulders--15" approximate, raglan sleeves
sleeve opening--7" flat
chest--19 1/2"
length--25 1/2"

details:
light cotton top with gathered neckline and sleeves. i bought it because it reminded me of marni, but infinitely cheaper. plus, i thought i could wear it as a maternity top, but i soon discovered that i preferred tighter-fitting tops. it also picks up cat hair, which is a never-ending problem in my house.

imperfections:
none, new with tags.

price:
i paid $30, asking $8 for shipping in the US

listing end date:
may 26, 2009.

Seven jeans

I bought these sevens awhile ago and no longer fit into them. They are a wide leg cut with nice buttons and stitching detail near the front slit pockets. They are incredibly comfortable and have only been worn a handful of times. I got them altered so that the inseam is 30.5" (I am 5'5").

Size: 28
Style: wide leg (unfortunately, forgot the style name)
Fabric: 98% cotton and 2% stretch (elastin)
Inseam: 30.5"
Imperfections: none, worn a couple of times
Price: I completely forgot, but imagine it was at least $150.
Asking: $30

Sorry, I can only ship in the U.S.!

Update: Listing ended! Thanks everyone.

Earnest Sewn Jeans

I bought these jeans from the Earnest Sewn boutique in the Lower East Side last fall. I recently lost some weight and unfortunately no longer fit into these. I've only worn these not more than 3 times and want to find someone who will be able to get some wear out of them. They are a great dark blue wash in the 'Decca' straight leg cut. I got them shortened with the original hem (see fourth photo) so that the inseam is 30" (I am 5'5").

Size: 27
Inseam: altered to 30" with the original hem
Style: decca, straight leg
Wash: dark blue (I'm fairly certain they are 'reese' on the website)
Fabric: 100% cotton
Imperfections: none, worn 3 times at most
Price: $198
Asking: $50

Sorry, I can only ship to the U.S.!

A.P.C. Fall/Winter 2008 Dress

I bought this lovely dress at the A.P.C. store last winter, but recently lost weight. I've only worn it twice and am looking to find a good home for it. It is 100% cotton (thicker cotton, not filmy) and a tan color (a richer brown color than the photos show) with retro gold/black buttons on the front and sleeves. It hits above the knee and has pockets. I think it's a versatile piece - can be worn with tights and boots in the winter/fall as well as sandals in the warmer months.

Size: small
Color: tan
Imperfections: none, worn twice
Price: I can't recall precisely, but seem to remember $180 - $200 range. There is a similarly cut plaid dress in the current collection for around $180.
Asking: $60

Sorry, I can only ship in the U.S.!

Update: Listing ended! Thanks everyone.

See by Chloe Pinafore Dress Size 2

I really love this See by Chloe dress and it's a perfect addition to any spring/summer wardrobe. The bow in the back and side pockets are two of my favorite details. Unfortunately this dress has gotten too small for me. I took it to the dry cleaners and there is one faint yellow discoloring under one armpit (see picture) and I just noticed as I was taking it out of the dry cleaning plastic there is what appear to be a couple of small marker dots nears the bottom (not even sure how they could have gotten there) and these barely show up at the dress has pleats. Other than that this dress is in very good condition, no other rips, stains or tears.

Measurements:
Straps - Adjustable
Bust - Approx 15" inches Flat
Waist - Open
Length from bottom of strap to bottom of hem - 33"

Purchased for $350, selling for $50 including shipping and handling (sorry I don't ship out of the US)
Listing ends May 10th Thank you for looking!

**Relist: BCBG Navy Jersey Taffeta Halter Dress, size 8

About: Wore this dress once.I lost some weight recently so it doesn't fit quite as well as before. It's really comfortable, with a roomy A-line skirt and flattering empire waist. And there are pockets, which is always a plus! Would be a great dress for the holidays, paired with an embellished cardigan and metallic heels. Or jazz it up with some layered necklaces.

Details: bust 17"-18", waist 14" (material is pleated jersey, so there's room to stretch)

Asking: Paid $100, asking $45 (includes shipping). Paypal only, please.

Steven by Steve Madden knee high boots, size 8.5

About: Got these great knee high boots last Spring and never wore them. It's time to part ways. The heel is quite tall (nearly 4 inches). I like that the back panel has elastic so it would fit virtually all calf sizes! Would look great with skinny jeans or dressed up with tights and a sweater dress.

Details: Size 8.5 boots, run true to size. Great dark brown/chocolate color. Would make a great gift.

Asking: Paid $70, asking $50 (includes shipping).

J Crew Mila Stacked Heels Shoes Sz. 9

About: I got these at a Jcrew outlet a while ago and never really found a good excuse to wear them. I don't normally do metallic shoes, but pictured these with skinny jeans and a great blouse. Maybe even black tights if I were more adventurous. It didn't happen, so these should go to a better home!

Details: Size 9 "gold" color heel, brand new and never worn! There is a black mark on the insole to prevent store returns.

Asking: Retailed for $195 last Spring. Paid $50, asking $25 (includes shipping).

Listing has ended. Thank you!

Black Ballerinas, Size 10

About the Item: I bought these shoes from JJill to serve as a simple go to flat. They are marked a 10, but run on the big side. They are suede upper with a rubber sole. There is a slight ½ centimeter heel. The innersole is leather. The gold in the picture does not show through when wearing. I have only wore them once.

Why I'm saying goodbye: The size does not work for me, and I cannot return them. My feet are quite narrow and they a true medium width.

Plus Points: The pattern is great, and make the shoes more distinctive for what would be a very classic style. They are light weight, travel well and would be very comfortable with the rubber sole.

Size: 10

Length of outer sole: 10 ½”

Asking: $20 +Shipping . I bought them for $60 and feel I have now learned my lesson about online shoe shopping.

Thanks

Nine West Top, Medium

Though it looks brown in some photos, it's actually taupe with a lot of grey. The photo above shows its colour most accurately.

About the Item:
I was thrilled, years ago, when I found this super flattering dress up/dress down top. Even on the hanger, I suspected it would look great, and I was right! I bought it shortly after my daughter was born, when my shape was very changeable and my chest was ample, but it still fit terrifically in the bust, due to the gauge of the fabric and the good construction of the garment. It shows off one's arms to good effect.

Why it's time to say goodbye: I have owned this for a long time and worn it often. It's a bit large on me now and I've enjoyed it enough to happily give it to a new home.

Plus Points:
  • Lovely neutral taupe that transcends "beige"
  • Beautiful silk cowl
  • Great under jacket
  • Very comfortable
  • Can dress up or down - looks terrific with jeans
Size: Medium (the fabric has give, making it a generous medium)

Flat Measurements:

Armpit - Armpit: 17.5 inches
Length: 21.5 inches

Asking: Shipping only - from Canada. I cost the shipping and let you know...

Note: I have owned this item for years and have worn it well. It's in good, but not perfect condition. (There is slight discoloration on the silk which I've tried to indicate with flash and non-flash photos, but it doesn't show in the pics. Although you can see it when you flatten the silk and look, it is not at all visible when you are wearing the top.) I think it cost about $60.00, discounted at Winners (would have been about $90 at 9West shops).

Listing End Date: ENDED, THANKS!

Susan Harris Skirt

About the Item: Oh, yet another of my fave purchases, I got this quirky, rough-cut, linen skirt at Susan Harris Design studio (that would be her former apartment on Tecumseth) on a blisteringly hot summer day a few years ago. I actually tried it on in her tiny bathroom. It is marvelously, strangely cool on a hot day and truly unique piece from a great Toronto designer.

The screened rooster, inset fabric with quote (on the back) and rough seaming (still very durable) make it endlessly intriguing. It's very easy to wear and the draw-string means it fits a wide variety of sizes from a 6 to a generous 10. The colour is a beautiful slate grey.

My absolute fave feature is the screened "sorry." shown in the final photo. For some reason that has thrilled me with each wearing.

Why it's time to say goodbye: I've had a couple of years to love this skirt but my summer skirt wardrobe is now so abundant, I find it doesn't get in the rotation as often as it deserves - and really, I need the space! It's too good to languish in the back of a closet.

Plus Points:
  • It's a great length
  • This linen skirt is actually machine washable and gets softer with each wash
  • The asymmetric seaming and rough finish are fantastic
  • I love the screening work - it's deliciously odd!
  • The drawstring top means it fits no matter how much ice cream you eat in any given summer heat wave
  • It travels excellently - roll it up into a ball and then unroll/wear
Size: Extremely flexible due to the cut and drawstring. It would fit a 6 - generous 10. Looks equally nice on a variety of shapes. I worn it slimmer and less slim to equally good effect. Friends with different shapes have tried it and it's flattering on them too.

Flat Measurements:

Waist: 13 - 18 (roughly) inches re: drawstring closure
Length: 23.5 inches

Asking: I bought this skirt from Susan directly, at full-price, for $100.00. Asking $20.00 plus shipping. Please note: Shipping from Canada.

Listing End Date: ENDED, THANKS!
